Hi! I’m Xavier the Xantic Sargo!

My family and I like to live in the sandy bottoms and seagrass beds of rocky reefs. I’m a member of the grunt family. We’re called that because we make a grunting noise when our flat teeth plates rub together, which is amplified by our air bladders. Can you make a grunting noise?

During the day I like to hover over the reef not doing much, but during the night I go find food. I like to eat crustaceans, fish, and invertebrates. My teeth are in the back of my throat behind my gills.

One of my favorite things to do when I get bored is play tag with my friends near the rocky reef. What do you like to do when you’re bored?

You can take Xavier home with you!
